About the position

The Associate Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) Administrator at Brown University plays a crucial role in the administration and implementation of the Human Research Protection Program and Institutional Review Board (IRB) policies. This position is essential for managing the daily operations related to human subjects research across multiple institutions, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and ethical standards. The role involves collaboration with faculty, staff, and students, as well as managing protocol submissions and supporting IRB meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and implement HRPP and IRB policies and procedures for human subjects research.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the HRPP and manage the IRB inbox.
  • Manage the intake and pre-review of protocol submissions in the electronic Huron system.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and materials for IRB Committee meetings and manage attendance.
  • Collaborate with HRPP staff and IRB members on special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 0-2 years of related experience, or Associate's degree and 2+ years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding human subjects research.
  • Ability to handle confidential documents and sensitive information.
  • Experience with high volumes and rigid deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in an academic or hospital/clinical research setting.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a research compliance setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic submission systems.
