About the position

The position involves designing, developing, and implementing process improvements and engineering projects within the Distribution Centers of TJX. The role focuses on enhancing work methods, layouts, and material handling solutions to support the efficient movement of inventory across various retail brands. The job requires adaptability and a proactive approach to problem-solving, as each day presents new challenges and opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop standards utilizing work measurement methods and stopwatch data as required.
  • Formalize job code standards including frequency and occurrence data imbedded in work measurement methods.
  • Develop elementary methods and process steps at the individual or teamwork station level.
  • Create and maintain all data within PATS as required excluding interface maps.
  • Work on special productivity performance troubleshooting and analysis projects at a workstation level or at a systems/data level as assigned by the DC Industrial Engineer.
  • Analyze statistical data for volatility and standard deviation norms in relation to productivity performance and capacities.
  • Redesign workstation level tasks to incorporate improved ergonomics and safety requirements.
  • Assist the IE or IE Manager in developing DC layouts, CAD drawings, and space/density analysis.
  • Recommend and justify basic process improvements to senior IE staff, and calculate savings in labor or materials.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar equivalent degree.
  • Curriculum experience in college along with internships/part-time roles in IE type function during school.
  • 0-1 year experience post college graduation.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Excel, and Word.
  • Basic knowledge in stopwatch level timings and time study.
  • Trained in basics of work measurement and work design principles.
  • Base knowledge of ergonomics and safety regulations in relation to work and process design compliance.
  • Intermediate knowledge of stopwatch work measurement, including simultaneous variables and spot pace rating.
  • Basic understanding of data collection principles to support Labor Management Systems.
  • General trained knowledge of efficient workflow concepts and methods development.
  • Capable of elementary use of CAD.
