About the position

The Associate Instructional Designer for Digital Learning at the University of Tennessee will play a crucial role in enhancing online education by collaborating with faculty and instructional designers to create and evaluate quality online and hybrid courses. This position focuses on applying instructional design principles and utilizing educational technologies to develop engaging and accessible learning materials, ultimately impacting the academic success of online learners.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with faculty and instructional design team to develop courses in line with the university's 'Engaged Online Course Initiative.'
  • Manage instructional design projects for the complete development of individual courses and programs.
  • Independently consult with faculty and instructional staff to support best practices in online teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement assessment tools to evaluate programming and assist faculty in improving their teaching practices.
  • Lead efforts to maintain compliance with USDOJ guidelines for accessibility in online courses.
  • Provide start-of-term support to faculty, ensuring seamless access to course materials and updates.
  • Diagnose and recommend effective uses of technology to enhance instruction.
  • Provide troubleshooting and support for faculty regarding Digital Learning course templates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, education, technology, learning science, or related field.
  • Experience in providing educational technology development services or formal/informal education.
  • Equivalent combination of experience or education that demonstrates comparable knowledge and skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in instructional design, education, technology, learning science, or related field.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $50,000-$55,000 dependent on experience.
