About the position

The Associate Interior Designer supports the Senior Designer by assisting with various design tasks, including selecting items, designing window treatments, sourcing materials, and creating room layouts. This role requires collaboration with the Architectural Department and other specialists to ensure project requirements are met while maintaining a focus on aesthetics and functionality.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Senior Designer with project workload and design tasks.
• Select items according to the Senior Designer's color schemes.
• Design window treatments and source hardware and lighting fixtures.
• Create initial sketches using AutoCAD software.
• Coordinate with architects, inspectors, and other specialists to ensure project requirements are met.
• Maintain a meetings schedule with project deadlines and requirements.
• Develop design options and read/interpret blueprints.
• Keep Project Specification documents current for the Senior Designer.
• Track billable hours and write purchase orders for fabrication of goods.
• Measure interior spaces and create drawings for client presentations.

Requirements

• Accredited degree or associate's degree in Interior Design.
• At least two years of experience in interior design or completion of a design internship.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Working knowledge of interior finish materials and furniture applications.
• Ability to take direction and work independently.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficiency in Photoshop, SketchUp, and AutoCAD.
