About the position

The Associate Interoperability Engineer at RAYUS Radiology is responsible for mapping, harmonizing, and enhancing data from customer source systems, such as EMRs, using standard practices. This role involves collaborating with client technical staff to determine optimal solutions for data requirements and mapping healthcare EHR data to standard HL7 schemas. The position requires a focus on interface development, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure seamless data integration and compliance with healthcare standards.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with interface analysts, project/business relationship managers, and client IT personnel to satisfy project deliverables and data requirements.
  • Performs mapping tasks using SQL-based configuration and hierarchical transformation of source schema to meet target output schema specifications as defined by HL7 standards.
  • Builds, monitors, and maintains healthcare data integrations using interface engines such as Mirth, Corepoint, and Iguana.
  • Documents the client-side EHR workflow and its implications on the data expected to be integrated within our systems.
  • Maintains accurate project files including assumptions and key steps during the mapping process, tracking progress towards completion of specifications.
  • Adheres to change management processes to resolve interface software defects or implement development enhancements.
  • Analyzes client test data to evaluate data quality and availability.
  • Acts as the point contact for assigned interface development issues and escalations related to technical obstacles.
  • Performs comprehensive data validation and troubleshooting data issues through problem-solving with stakeholders.
  • Provides technical assistance and monitors the connectivity, performance, security, and scalability of the data integration platform.
  • Troubleshoots interface issues and provides timely resolutions to minimize disruptions, adhering to defined service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Collaborates across teams to share knowledge that informs optimal service delivery.
  • Maintains comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Provides off-hours support for critical maintenance or problem resolution.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years of demonstrable experience with a SQL-based query language and HL7 standards and messaging protocols.
  • 1 year of data integration or similar experience with tools such as Mirth.
  • Demonstrable programming skills in languages like C# or Java.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in one or more EMRs (e.g. Epic, eCW, Cerner, Athena) and comfort with common healthcare ontologies.
  • Familiarity with API design and development.
  • Healthcare experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
