About the position

Global Atlantic Financial Group is seeking an Associate for its Investment Accounting Team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of accounting and reporting related to statutory investment accounting. The Associate will coordinate with various departments, including Investment Operations, Statutory Accounting and Reporting, and Corporate Development, to ensure seamless operations. Reporting directly to the AVP of Investment Accounting, the Associate will also be responsible for reviewing the work of two other team members, making strong organizational skills and effective communication essential for success in this position. The Associate will handle a high volume of recurring data on a monthly basis, as well as new information related to complex investments. Key responsibilities include completing statutory assignments such as investment NAIC Annual Statement schedules, footnotes, and interrogatories for seven insurance company entities. The role also involves training newer team members on investment accounting and reporting tasks, performing control functions in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404, and conducting frequent ad hoc analyses to support new business initiatives. Additionally, the Associate will review journal entries and Annual Statement reporting schedules, assist in planning and executing improvements to the quarterly reporting process, and support audit completion in regulatory communications. Candidates for this position should possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, along with at least four years of relevant experience, preferably in the insurance industry. Strong communication skills, a solid work ethic, and a high level of personal integrity and accountability are crucial. Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word is required, and public accounting experience, as well as statutory accounting experience, is considered a plus. It is important to note that this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 4+ years relevant experience, preferably in the insurance industry.

  • Public accounting experience is a plus.
  • Statutory accounting experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and work ethic.
  • High level of personal integrity and accountability.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
