About the position
The Investment Analytics and Data (IAD) group at Dimensional plays a crucial role in both the daily operations of the firm and the long-term strategic development of investment solutions. This group, which is part of the Research Department, focuses on leveraging data and analytics to enhance portfolio management and trading processes. The IAD team is responsible for creating technology solutions that align with the firm's investment philosophy, ensuring that clients receive the best possible investment experience. The team also develops analytical tools that empower clients to build, understand, and manage their investment portfolios effectively. Within the IAD, the Data Distribution team is dedicated to delivering client-focused solutions with a product-oriented mindset. This team employs product-centric development methodologies to address client challenges creatively. Team members are not only experts in Dimensional's data but also act as confident product owners, collaborating closely with product designers and engineers to bring innovative solutions to life. The team is currently seeking analysts or associates who can support key initiatives that are essential to the firm's daily operations. This role involves teamwork in designing and developing investment reporting systems, conducting both manual and automated testing of data services, and providing ad hoc analyses related to portfolio construction and performance. Success in this position will hinge on the ability to develop and maintain analytical investment data tools and processes that serve both internal and external users. Additionally, enhancing operational efficiencies at Dimensional to deliver value-added investment solutions to clients will be a key focus. Career progression in this role will be driven by the successful execution of these responsibilities, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the IAD group.
Responsibilities
- Design and build investment reporting systems from start to finish and take ownership over the final product, in partnership with Technology teams.
- Assist in data architecture for distribution of investment data to internal clients and help define and build data structures for exposure of data to end consumers.
- Define requirements and develop new processes, in partnership with teams across the organization.
- Work with clients to gather and define requirements for core business systems, in partnership with teams across the organization.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of investment products, regulatory requirements, financial markets, and related investment data.
- Work with members of the investment teams to answer questions and perform analysis related to portfolio construction and performance.
- Contribute to ongoing efficiency efforts through automation, process design, and implementation such as internal dashboards, QA testing (API, UI, etc).
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- At least one year of relevant experience working with large datasets, performing quantitative analysis, and using SQL, T-SQL, or similar data management tools.
- Experience in Python is strongly desired.
- Experience in using and testing Web APIs is a plus.
- Experience with the Agile methodology of software development is a plus.
- Experience in articulating requirements to developers.
- Experience with QA and acceptance testing is a plus.
- Self-starter capable of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to clearly communicate ideas and solutions to technical and non-technical teams.
