About the position

The Investment Diligence Associate will support the Originations Management team within RBC Community Investments, focusing on managing due diligence for real estate transactions that include a tax credit component. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient closings, while also identifying operational risks and ensuring compliance with firm policies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and review due diligence for real estate closings.
  • Prepare and maintain the closing checklist, communicating with outside counsel and company staff regarding review status.
  • Coordinate and lead diligence calls with developers, counsel, Investment Analysts, and Investment Managers.
  • Order background searches as required by Group Risk Management.
  • Provide developers with up-to-date form documents.
  • Coordinate the closing process with counsel, Investment Analysts, Investment Managers, developers, and lenders.
  • Contact developers and outside counsel to obtain items on the post-closing agreement.
  • Communicate openly and honestly with all parties involved in each transaction, prioritizing diligence items with the most lead time.
  • Participate in training events for the department as needed.
  • Proactively identify operational risks and control deficiencies in the business.
  • Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to business activities.
  • Escalate operational risk loss events and control deficiencies to the line manager and relevant risk and control functions.

Requirements

  • Mid-level experience in risk management or related field.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Experience in real estate transactions, particularly with tax credit components.

  • Experience with due diligence processes in real estate.
  • Familiarity with tax credit financing.
