Associate, Java/Scala Developer

About the position

Morgan Stanley Services Group Inc. seeks an Associate, Java/Scala Developer in New York, New York. Analyze, design, develop and test server-side services and software applications to support the FX business. Collaborate with global colleagues in FX technology team and other technology teams to deliver integrated solutions. Provide support for traders, salespeople, controllers and operations with software application and infrastructure questions and issues. Conduct in-depth software analyses of FX business and projects. Develop various new FX flow and features within projects. Coordinate requirements, design, development and delivery of software products within global team. Continuously improve the quality of FX trading software system and codebase. Remote work from anywhere in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, develop and test server-side services and software applications to support the FX business.
• Collaborate with global colleagues in FX technology team and other technology teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Provide support for traders, salespeople, controllers and operations with software application and infrastructure questions and issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Five (5) years of experience in the position offered or five (5) years as a Software Developer, Programmer Analyst, or a related role.
• Five (5) years of experience with the full Software Development Lifecycle using Linux.
• Five (5) years of experience with agile development on enterprise scale complex projects.
• Five (5) years of experience with rational databases including Sybase or DB2.
• Five (5) years of experience writing complex SQL queries.
• Five (5) years of experience with GIT, JIRA, Jenkins, and Sonar.
• Four (4) years of experience with system architecture.
• Four (4) years of experience with core Java development including Object Oriented programming, Treading, Data Structure, Design pattern, Algorithms, Spring, REST and SOAP API, Microservices, Junit, Mockito, MQ, XML, TDD and SOLID.
• Two (2) years of experience with developing high throughput transaction and event processing systems.
• Two (2) years of experience with Python, C, Shell scripting, JSON, AutoSys, Train, Splunk, and Load Balance.
• Two (2) years of experience with build tools including Maven, Gradle, Ivy and YAML.
• Two (2) years of experience with trading technologies and Foreign Exchange trading system, including FIX and FIXML protocol, FX Exchange API and STP.
• Two (2) years of experience working in a trading environment with cross regional teams.
