About the position

The Associate Manager, Accounting position at SC Johnson is a pivotal role within the Corporate Accounting team, specifically as part of the Record-to-Report General Ledger team. This position is responsible for leading technical accounting applications on a global scale and providing support for the BlackLine application, particularly for North America and the Parent Company. The role is based onsite in Racine, WI, and is integral to ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial reporting processes. In this role, the Associate Manager will review BlackLine balance sheet account reconciliations for North America and the headquarters, acting as the backup Local Admin for the North America region. Additionally, the individual will serve as the project manager for future BlackLine initiatives, ensuring that all global finance policies are maintained and adhered to. The position also involves managing the global budget for Global Risk Management insurance expenses and consolidating the global budget for Special Items. The Associate Manager will act as a liaison for Global Internal Audit, managing the SOAR control frameworks, and will partner with various teams including Corporate Tax, Corporate Treasury, Shared Service Centers, and Business Unit Finance to troubleshoot issues and ensure proper accounting treatment. This role requires conducting accounting research and documenting accounting position papers on key accounting pronouncements, as well as monitoring external accounting news and guidance to anticipate changes to accounting standards that may impact SC Johnson.

Responsibilities

  • Review BlackLine balance sheet account reconciliations for North America and HQ.
  • Serve as the backup Local Admin for the North America region.
  • Act as project manager for future BlackLine initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrates initiative with a strong attention to detail and well organized.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with all levels of the finance organization.
  • Ability to summarize financial data clearly and concisely to enable speed and quality of decision making.
  • Prior experience with SAP and BPC preferred.
  • Specific SAP hierarchy and navigation experience is a plus.
