About the position

KAYAK, part of Booking Holdings, is the world's leading travel search engine, helping people find their perfect travel arrangements. As an employee, you will be part of a global network that includes OpenTable and KAYAK's portfolio of metasearch brands. The Associate Manager, Accounting will report directly to the Senior Manager of Accounting and support the North America General Ledger (GL) team. This role involves managing the monthly close process, performing variance analysis, and managing two direct reports while continuously improving processes. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of US GAAP, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing the monthly close process for the North America GL team
  • Manage several different accounting areas including cash, prepaid expenses, accounts payable, professional fees, payroll and commission entries, and accruals
  • Oversee and manage payroll accounting and liaise with the Payroll team
  • Review and analyze monthly financial statements for the relevant areas of responsibility
  • Assist in preparation and review of monthly balance sheet and P&L fluctuation analyses
  • Manage two direct reports by reviewing their work, providing feedback, and supporting their career growth
  • Review monthly, quarterly and annual balance sheet reconciliations in FloQast
  • Provide suggestions for improvement to maximize accuracy and efficiency
  • Assist with various ad hoc projects and implement suggested improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
  • 5+ years experience in industry and/or public accounting (Big 4 experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage at least one direct report
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, including task prioritization and effective time management
  • Excited to actively participate in projects to standardize and improve processes
  • Solution-focused with the ability to prioritize and lead multiple tasks to meet deadlines
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.) preferred
