About the position

The Associate Manager, Global Barbie Brand Marketing will be an integral part of the Global Barbie Brand Team at Mattel. This role involves assisting in the development and execution of global brand strategies while managing product development initiatives for regional teams to implement in their respective markets. The successful candidate will work closely with the Manager and various cross-functional teams to ensure that the Barbie brand receives exceptional marketing support. This includes creating unique and strategic products and programs that align with budgetary constraints and can be effectively maximized across global retail and e-commerce platforms. To excel in this position, the candidate must possess strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail. Excellent communication skills are essential, as the role requires both written communication and oral presentations to diverse audiences. A positive, can-do attitude, a passion for variety, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances are key traits for success. The individual must also demonstrate strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, enabling them to lead and motivate cross-functional teams while providing a compelling vision and strategy. The impact of this position will be significant, as the Associate Manager will ensure that all brand marketing projects are aligned with business strategies, objectives, and insights. They will assist in securing buy-in for global product strategies at all organizational levels and ensure executional commitment from internal partners to activate these strategies across key markets and business lines. Collaboration with Product Design, Packaging, and Development teams will be essential to bring innovative and compelling toys to market on time and within budget, supported by consumer insights. The role also involves creating unique retailer-exclusive products and campaigns, maintaining regular communication with regional teams, and preparing and delivering presentations that convey strategic messages to large audiences. Additionally, the Associate Manager will monitor key trends, brands, and competitors' performance in all markets, lead global business reporting and analysis, and act as the point of contact for brand inquiries and information dissemination.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all brand marketing projects are supported by business strategy, objectives and insights
  • Assist in gaining buy-in to global product strategies at all levels, as well as executional commitment from internal partners to activate across key markets and key lines of business
  • Work closely with the Product Design, Packaging and Development teams to bring innovative and compelling toys to market on time and on budget backed by Consumer Insights
  • Create unique retailer exclusive products and campaigns
  • Communicate regularly with regional teams and lines of business to ensure needs are being met
  • Prepare for and deliver presentations that convey a strategic message to large audiences
  • Present with confidence to drive brand strategy and products
  • Brief and develop marketing assets
  • Help develop global marketing campaigns for execution at a local level
  • Monitor key trends, brands and competitors' performance in all markets
  • Lead global business reporting and analysis
  • Work with other Mattel Global Brand teams to continuously share plans and establish ‘best practices' around the world
  • Act as point of contact for brand inquiries and dissemination of brand information and assets
  • Take initiative to clarify ever-changing business needs and challenges, and work appropriately with team and cross-functional partners to find solutions

Requirements

  • 5+ years (2 years with MBA) experience in marketing, preferably in product development
  • Experience with company/product/marketing that is rooted in consumer trends
  • Thorough understanding of marketing mix and KPIs
  • Experience analyzing data and managing financials
  • Ability to synthesize data and pull insights to create recommendations
  • Strong skills presenting in front of large groups
  • Highly organized, independent and detail oriented with strong follow up skills
  • Strong time management, planning and project execution skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build solid collaborative relationships
  • Strong PowerPoint creation and presentation skills, proficiency in Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Must be comfortable working in a demanding, challenging, and dynamic environment with a knack for embracing ambiguity and change, while focusing on solutions
