About the position

SS&C is a global provider of investment and financial services and software for the financial services and healthcare industries. The Associate Manager for Hedge Fund and Private Equity Fund Accounting will play a crucial role in supporting the Private Markets business management, new business development, and maintaining existing client relationships. This position is based in Los Angeles, CA, with opportunities for hybrid work arrangements. The Associate Manager will be responsible for overseeing the development of team members by providing technical training and sharing fund knowledge. They will also review client deliverables, including quarterly financial statements, investment data, partner's capital allocations, fund net asset value, and applicable accrual bookings. As the primary liaison for a book of business, the Associate Manager will work closely with external parties such as auditors, law firms, and tax advisors. In addition, the Associate Manager will prepare, review, and maintain general ledgers, sub ledgers, and trial balances for multiple fund clients, ensuring compliance with various accounting standards such as IFRS, US GAAP, and local GAAP. They will assist in the implementation, onboarding, and setup of new client entities, contributing to the development and implementation of effective processes to improve overall operations. The role requires active planning, coordination, and monitoring of the quality and timing of various client deliverables according to operating memoranda and service level agreements (SLAs). Furthermore, the Associate Manager will be responsible for the aggregation, maintenance, and reconciliation of key business and client metrics, ensuring that all deliverables meet the highest standards of accuracy and timeliness.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of team members by providing technical training and sharing fund knowledge
  • Review client deliverables, including quarterly financial statements, investment data, partner's capital allocations, fund net asset value, and applicable accrual bookings
  • Act as the primary liaison for a book of business and work closely with external parties such as auditors, law firms, and tax advisors
  • Prepare, review, and maintain general ledgers, sub ledgers, and trial balances for multiple fund clients according to various accounting standards (IFRS/US GAAP/local GAAP)

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of adequate and effective processes to improve overall operations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in fund accounting or a similar role
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and standards (IFRS, US GAAP)
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and review
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with private equity or hedge fund accounting
  • Knowledge of accounting software and financial systems
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA)
