About the position

The Associate Managing Director of the Clinical Research Institute at Texas Tech University is responsible for overseeing the management of clinical research projects, including budget negotiations, staff supervision, and regulatory education. This role requires a strong background in clinical research and management, ensuring compliance and effective communication between the institute and affiliated hospitals.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and develop clinical research study budgets.
  • Oversee management of all accounting and fiscal responsibilities of the Clinical Research Institute.
  • Facilitate and oversee clinical conduct of clinical research projects, including direct interaction with physicians and clinical research subjects.
  • Oversee call schedule and coverage for clinical research studies.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and train staff within the Clinical Research Institute.
  • Develop and conduct clinical research and regulatory education for investigators and research staff.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of the CRI Work Order system.
  • Produce performance metrics and reports on clinical research activities for TTUHSC administration.
  • Foster networking of clinical research personnel across TTUHSC campuses.
  • Review protocol opportunities for feasibility and budgetary impact.
  • Assist faculty/staff/students with development of research protocols.
  • Attend clinical research meetings and professional meetings for training.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of the Clinical Research Institute Web page.
  • Negotiate clinical trials agreements with pharmaceutical companies.
  • Develop and maintain CRI Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Act as clinical research liaison between TTUHSC and Affiliated Hospitals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
  • Six years of administrative or management experience.
  • Current Texas Registered Nurse license.
  • CPR certification.
  • Documentation of successful completion of CITI training.

Nice-to-haves

  • PhD in Nursing or Medical Field.
  • ACRP and/or SoCRA certification within 6 months of employment.
  • A working knowledge of all aspects related to the conduct of clinical research.
