About the position

The Associate Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for assisting in the design of tooling and equipment, as well as planning the manufacturing process for parts and assemblies in the engine rebuild department at our Mayfield facility. This role involves a significant amount of technical work where independent judgment is exercised, and decisions are made within the framework of general practices and policies. The engineer will analyze process materials or product designs to determine the best methods of manufacture, specify the necessary tools and equipment, and evaluate processes in the engine rebuild area. In addition to these responsibilities, the Associate Manufacturing Engineer will assist in the design and construction of tools and equipment, recommending improvements to existing processes. They will also develop training materials, work instructions, quality manuals, and other documentation to train employees on equipment and best practices. Investigating equipment and process failures to diagnose issues and make recommendations for improvement is a key part of the role. Collaboration with design engineering and quality assurance teams is essential to develop procedures that ensure high-quality parts meet customer expectations. The engineer will be responsible for procuring all required items for operations, such as gauges, stands, tools, and hoists. They will also participate in continuous improvement efforts through collaboration with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams, developing long-range plans for process and manufacturing improvements. Additional job-related duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes process materials or product designs for the best methods of manufacture
  • Specifies tools, equipment and process to produce a part or assembly or evaluate processes in engine rebuild
  • Assists in the design and building of tools and equipment or recommends improvements to existing processes
  • Assists in developing training materials, work instructions, quality manuals, and other documentation to train employees on equipment and best practices
  • Investigates equipment and process failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and to make recommendations for improvement
  • Works with design engineering and quality assurance to develop procedures to ensure high quality parts meet customer expectations
  • Procures all required items (gauges, stands, tools, cabinets, hoists, etc.) for operations
  • Assists in continuous improvement efforts through joint operations, engineering, and maintenance teams; develops long-range plans for improvements of processes and manufacturing activities
  • Performs additional job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering field (e.g., mechanical, electrical, software, etc.)
  • Demonstrated analytical ability where problems are complex
  • Well developed oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, understand, and create technical prints
  • Understanding of manufacturing and tooling processes
  • Understanding of LEAN manufacturing principles preferred
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
