About the position

The Associate - Manufacturing & Supply Chain role at McKinsey & Company involves working closely with clients to address complex operational challenges within the manufacturing and supply chain sectors. The position focuses on developing and implementing strategies that enhance business performance and drive sustainable results. Associates will collaborate in teams to analyze information, formulate hypotheses, and present tailored recommendations to client management, contributing significantly to the operational improvements and transformations of client organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients to define new organizational structures, roles, and processes across global organizations.
  • Gather and analyze information to formulate and test hypotheses.
  • Develop recommendations for presentation to client management.
  • Contribute to the analysis, design, and implementation of business performance approaches.
  • Work closely with clients to ensure positive impact and sustainable results.
  • Share expertise and insights with colleagues globally to refine approaches in manufacturing and supply chain.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or master's degree, preferably in engineering, operations, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a high-performance manufacturing/supply chain environment, demonstrating leadership skills in performance improvement and change management.
  • Understanding and exposure to manufacturing/supply chain concepts, with interest in network design, sales and operations planning (S&OP), inventory, or physical flow management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead operational improvements and manage key transformation factors.
  • Proven aptitude for analytics and a record of leadership in work settings or extracurricular activities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively with people at all levels in an organization.
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in consulting or advisory roles within manufacturing and supply chain sectors.
  • Familiarity with advanced analytics tools and methodologies.
