The Associate Mechanical Design Engineer will work within the Schaeffler Special Machinery (SMB) Department in Wooster, Ohio. This role involves designing and developing manufacturing equipment and automation for the Schaeffler Production System. The engineer will define processes for the development of innovative solutions to meet future demand and support the further development of the mechanical engineering sector. The position requires deploying state-of-the-art technologies and creating bills of materials and drawings for manufacturing. In this role, you will be expected to collaborate with various teams to ensure that the designs meet the required specifications and standards. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise during the design and manufacturing processes. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of manufacturing technologies and processes within a leading global company.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop manufacturing equipment and automation for the Schaeffler Production System.
  • Define processes for the development of innovative solutions and future demand.
  • Support the further development of the mechanical engineering sector.
  • Deploy state-of-the-art technologies.
  • Create bills of materials and drawings for manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Advanced engineering and physics knowledge.
  • Knowledge of systems integration strategies, concepts, and techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge and skills in design of custom equipment for manufacturing including assembly, inspection, process control, etc.
  • Knowledge and skills in machine design, industrial hydraulics and pneumatics, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), etc.
  • Software skills in PTC Creo, AutoCAD, SAP, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Knowledge of Risk Level Assessment, codes, and regulations for industrial equipment safety.
  • External applicants must be authorized to work in the US without employment VISA or other sponsorship.

Benefits

  • Salary range: $75,000 - $120,000
  • Hiring Bonus: $500 after 90 days, $1000 after 180 days
  • 6% 401(k) company match
