The Otis Lead Design Center in Farmington, CT is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Associate Mechanical Engineer. On a typical day, you will be contributing to progressively challenging projects in technical/product development that support our business. The project assignments will require teamwork, research, and problem-solving skills. Focus areas of accountabilities include participating in product development activities including cost estimates, implementation of standard specifications, drawing, board layout, and development of requirements. You will understand and establish interfaces with design/analysis, testing, manufacturing, and maintenance. Additionally, you will develop test plans and execute tests for systems, sub-systems, and components, analyzing test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives. Following all appropriate design, safety, and qualification standards in development programs is essential, as is practicing principles of quality, reliability, and robust design. You will also support and contribute to innovation efforts for new technologies, concepts, and products.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in product development activities including cost estimates, implementation of standard specifications, drawing, board layout, and development of requirements.
  • Understand and establish interfaces with design/analysis, testing, manufacturing, and maintenance.
  • Develop test plans and execute tests for systems, sub-systems, and components.
  • Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives.
  • Follow all appropriate design, safety, and qualification standards in development programs.
  • Practice principles of quality, reliability, and robust design.
  • Support and contribute to innovation efforts for new technologies, concepts, and products.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related areas.
  • Metal and non-metal structural mechanics and materials science knowledge.
  • Theories, methods, and tools in mechanical modeling, design, and analysis.
  • Experience with 3D design tools, preferably Creo.
  • Knowledge of failure analysis of materials and structures; root cause analysis methods and tools.
  • Experience in design of experiments, test execution, and data analysis.
