About the position

The Associate Medical Director - Cell Therapy at Galapagos is a hybrid role focused on providing medical strategic input and executing core medical affairs initiatives in the US and assigned regions. This position involves strategic and tactical planning in collaboration with cross-functional teams, engaging with healthcare professionals and stakeholders, and ensuring the effective dissemination of clinical and scientific data to support the company's oncology and cell therapy pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key US Investigators, Thought Leaders, healthcare professionals, and patient advocacy groups.
  • Execute on the US Medical Affairs strategy and programs in the assigned area, including meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Participate in the development of the US Medical Affairs strategy in collaboration with Clinical Development, Commercial Strategy, Regulatory, HEOR, and other teams.
  • Support enrollment and execution of key Galapagos clinical trials across pipeline assets.
  • Identify and lead disease regional strategies and tactics through external engagements with physicians and investigators.
  • Represent US Medical Affairs as a cell therapy expert in Oncology/Heme-Onc internally and externally.
  • Provide input and review of congress abstracts, posters, presentation slides, and educational materials.
  • Ensure effective dissemination of data through publication plans and congress strategy plans.
  • Monitor and assess scientific communications platforms and report data gaps.
  • Stay updated on developments in the therapeutic area and US healthcare market.
  • Create and support medical information response documents and grant requests.
  • Serve as a reviewer on external communication materials as part of the MLR review team.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD or equivalent) in a health-related field.
  • At least 7-10+ years of experience in medical affairs, clinical development, or related roles within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, focusing on Cell Therapy, Oncology, or Heme-Onc.
  • Experience in conducting clinical trials in oncology, preferably CAR-T, with proficiency in clinical data review and interpretation.
  • In-depth knowledge of the US healthcare system, including regulatory requirements and payer landscape.
  • Excellent communication, soft skills, and interpersonal skills to engage and influence stakeholders.
  • Exposure to matrix organizational/leadership model.
  • A successful track record of building and managing collaborations.
  • Ability to navigate a small/mid-sized biotech in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
