About the position

The Associate Member Services Officer (MSO) is an entry-level position designed to provide foundational knowledge of SECU branch operations. This role focuses on delivering exemplary member service through various branch duties, including cash management, account origination, and maintenance, while also beginning training in lending and collections.

Responsibilities

  • Attend Excel and Elevate - New Employee Training (E&E) and complete core modules.
  • Comply with all Credit Union policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure confidentiality of member information and access accounts for business purposes only.
  • Follow security and control procedures as required by the branch.
  • Manage and balance a cash drawer according to Performance Measurement Criteria standards.
  • Greet and assist members courteously and professionally through all service channels.
  • Answer phones and assist members with service requests.
  • Obtain and execute Notary Public services as requested by management.
  • Interact with other departments to facilitate member requests.
  • Organize, file, and scan documents daily.
  • Process foreign and domestic wire transfers.
  • Help order and return foreign currency.
  • Troubleshoot problems with member accounts, cards, and online access.
  • Review and take action on negative checking, NSFB, and Share Below $25 reports.
  • Learn to open basic accounts under supervision following MIP procedures.
  • Assist with CXone and support MSS as needed.
  • Gain knowledge of Financial Advisory and Real Estate products and provide referrals.
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward members and teammates.
  • Participate in additional training and continuing education.
  • Complete additional tasks assigned by management.
  • Learn safe deposit procedures and assist members with accessing their boxes.
  • Begin learning about consumer lending and credit card products.
  • Contact members regarding deposit and/or loan collection reports as directed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree, CCUE Certification, or Associate degree via NC-CTP.
  • Demonstrated SECU's Core Values consistently.
  • Aptitude for meeting people and developing member confidence and trust.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in customer service or financial services is a plus.
