About the position

The Associate Merchandise Planner at Carter's plays a vital role in supporting the Planning team by developing merchandise strategies, managing financial plans, and collaborating with various departments to achieve financial objectives. This position focuses on day-to-day operations, data analysis, and project management to ensure the successful execution of company-wide initiatives, ultimately contributing to Carter's mission of serving families with young children.

Responsibilities

  • Manage topside brand level financial growth targets to inform the seasonal product line structure in partnership with Planning & Merchandising teams.
  • Support new growth opportunities through analysis of historical performance and profitability.
  • Collaborate with Merchandising, Planning, and Pricing teams to implement and report on cross-functional growth initiatives.
  • Coordinate specified projects, tasks, and deliverables, ensuring objectives are met and results communicated to business partners.
  • Prepare consolidated materials and create executive reporting packages for key meetings and forecast cycles.
  • Hindsight current business and make recommendations on category changes and style level needs for future buys.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis to enable tactical and strategic decision making and provide analytical support to the planning team.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in a buying/planning environment required (purchase order management, price change management, seasonal preparation, report analysis, manage a product category, special project leader, site merchandising).
  • Strong analytical skills and retail financial acumen.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Self-starter with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to conceptualize and transform an idea into a project.
