About the position

The Microelectronic Wet Etch Process Engineer role at Northrop Grumman involves working in the Wet Etch and Surface Prep Group within the Advanced Technology Lab. This position focuses on semiconductor fabrication processes, particularly wet etch and surface preparation, to support the production of microelectronic devices. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to ensure timely delivery of products and contribute to the development of new manufacturing techniques. This role requires working the third shift and involves significant interaction with peers and management across different functions.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain wet etch processing tools and process specifications.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and tool installation.
  • Train technicians on wet etch processes and equipment.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) investigations under supervision.
  • Collaborate with process integrators and senior engineers on new device development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Materials Engineering or related discipline with 1 year related semiconductor fabrication experience for Associate role, or 2 years for Engineer role.
  • General experience with MS Office suite.
  • Ability to work in a Class 100 cleanroom environment handling chemicals.
  • Meet all physical and PPE requirements.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Solid State Physics or other relevant engineering/physical science disciplines.
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Wet etch process engineering for semiconductor devices.
  • Silicon semiconductor fabrication experience.
