Northrop Grumman Space Systems has a Part-Time opening for an Associate Network Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Morrisville, NC. The selected candidate will assist with network topology design, development, deployment, and documentation. The salary range is based on a full-time schedule and will be prorated to the extent the schedule is reduced. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing engineering and automated deployments for network configurations, emulating network topologies, and testing various configurations. They will collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and redline documented procedures, implement engineering changes to the system as required, and be responsible for integrating and testing software and/or hardware systems in complex IT systems. The role requires good planning, coordination, and documentation skills, and the selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with network topology design, development, deployment, and documentation.
  • Develop engineering and automated deployments for network configurations.
  • Emulate network topologies and test various configurations.
  • Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and redline documented procedures.
  • Implement engineering changes to the system as required.
  • Integrate and test software and/or hardware systems in complex IT systems.
  • Work closely with Engineers and Technicians in a lab environment.
  • Maintain good planning, coordination, and documentation skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience in or knowledge of scripting/programming languages such as Python.
  • Experience with deploying, configuring, and hardening Network Devices.
  • Working knowledge of routing & switching concepts and protocols.
  • Familiarity with network simulation tools and load testing (e.g. EVE-NG, GNS3).

Nice-to-haves

  • Networking certifications will be considered.
  • Solid programming skills in Python.
  • Familiarity with Ansible and/or Terraform.
  • Familiarity with multiple topologies, network configurations, and routing protocols.
  • Familiar with Agile methodology.
  • Familiar with version control, GIT experience preferred.
  • Ability to author and maintain technical installation, configuration, and update documentation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
