About the position

The Associate Operational Technology (OT) Security Consultant is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and cybersecurity assessment of operational technology (OT) and industrial control systems (ICS) environments. This entry-level role offers a unique blend of in-office collaboration and on-site client support, making it ideal for someone eager to start their career in cybersecurity and technology consulting.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and utilize industry standards and best practices to guide clients into a resilient cybersecurity state; apply risk-based approach to OT Security.
  • Collaborate with senior consultants and clients to advance their cybersecurity journey.
  • Execute gap assessments, as per our framework, and industry standards.
  • Execute remediation projects onsite at client facilities and select and deploy technology in support of client goals.
  • Train client teams for successful project handover.
  • Prepare physical and logical network diagrams; network topology and network architecture drawings.
  • Prepare acceptance testing and implementation planning documents.
  • Prepare bill of materials for necessary hardware.
  • Configure, stage, and test equipment before shipping.
  • Travel to customer site to assist with the commissioning of network and computing infrastructure.
  • Participate in design concepts and implementation strategies for various PLC, HMI, and Ignition-based SCADA systems to ensure practical implementation of security standards.
  • Create and maintain network documentation throughout the project.
  • Develop expertise in control system security standards such as ISA-62443.
  • Participate in planning and design meetings.
  • Work with vendors to establish cybersecurity compliance requirements for their systems.
  • Develop testing plans including FAT and SAT documentation to validate security design.
  • Develop progress reports to communicate vendor status and project security compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience working with Industrial IT and Control System technologies.
  • Windows System Administration including Active Directory, Terminal Services, patch management, antivirus management, backup systems, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of IT/OT systems, including servers, networks, workstations, and infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of Industrial Control Systems (DCS, HMI, PLC) preferably Ignition.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity practices and industrial control system knowledge preferred.
  • Knowledge of networking technology and network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless Aps).
  • Understanding of security and reliability systems (anti-virus, backup software, intrusion detection systems, and replication).
  • Familiarity with industrial automation and control systems (PLC, HMI, electrical design, instrumentation design, and industrial IT).
  • Ability to develop documentation and explain technical concepts/requirements to non-technical team members.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and communication skills; eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card.
