About The Position
Under the direction of the Administrator I of the Administrative Proceedings Team, the Associate Operations Specialist (AOS) leads the daily operations of the Legal analytical and clerical staff who maintain the Division's Appeals. The AOS trains and mentors staff and reviews their work products, ensures staff understands the statutory/regulatory requirements of an appeal case flow, and ensures staff meets the prescribed deadlines. The AOS is also expected to perform complex interest computation requests (i.e., May Department Store Ruling interest adjustment) received from the attorneys. The AOS acts as a liaison with the Office of Tax Appeals (OTA), implementing and monitoring regulatory and procedural changes. Position may be extended to up to 24 months or become permanent.
