About the position
The Associate or Senior Editor position at Nature Communications focuses on overseeing the editorial process for high-quality scientific research in inorganic materials chemistry. This role is ideal for researchers who are passionate about science and wish to engage with a broader scientific community beyond their specific area of expertise. The editor will be responsible for manuscript selection, peer review oversight, and maintaining the journal's representation in the field.
Responsibilities
- Handling original research papers and collaborating with other editors on the editorial process.
- Making well-reasoned editorial decisions based on expert advice.
- Determining the representation of inorganic materials chemistry in the journal.
- Liaising with editors at other journals and experts in the scientific community.
- Attending conferences and visiting research institutions.
Requirements
- A PhD (or equivalent) in inorganic materials chemistry or related fields.
- Some postdoctoral research experience is preferred but not essential.
- A thorough understanding of the fundamentals of inorganic materials chemistry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Ability to assess the novelty, context, and implications of submitted research.
