About the position

The Associate or Senior Editor position at Nature Communications focuses on overseeing the editorial process for high-quality scientific research in inorganic materials chemistry. The editor will be responsible for manuscript selection, peer review oversight, and maintaining the journal's representation in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Handling original research papers and collaborating with other editors on the editorial process.
  • Making well-reasoned editorial decisions based on expert advice.
  • Determining the representation of inorganic materials chemistry in the journal.
  • Liaising with editors at other journals and experts in the scientific community.
  • Attending conferences and visiting research institutions.

Requirements

  • A PhD (or equivalent) in inorganic materials chemistry or related fields.
  • Some postdoctoral research experience is preferred but not essential.
  • A thorough understanding of the fundamentals of inorganic materials chemistry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Ability to assess the novelty, context, and implications of submitted research.
