The Associate Park and Recreation Specialist - Cultural Resources Division / Tribal Affairs Program will work under the direction of the Staff Services Manager I in Sacramento. This position involves a leadership role within a team of interdisciplinary professionals to fulfill the Department's NAGPRA and CalNAGPRA responsibilities. The incumbent will lead formal consultations with federally recognized and non-federally recognized tribes, working to identify and repatriate remains and cultural items respectfully and expeditiously. Strong writing and analytical skills are essential, as the incumbent will develop expert knowledge of NAGPRA and CalNAGPRA, taking lead responsibility for reporting requirements. Collaborative research with cultural resource professionals will be a key part of the role. The position is designated as telework eligible-office centered and requires a valid Class C driver's license.
