About the position

The Associate Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in the pharmacy department by assisting in the filling and dispensing of medications, including unit dose, IV, and chemotherapeutic medications. This position is essential for ensuring that medications are delivered safely and accurately to nursing units and other departments, while promoting teamwork and adhering to the mission and philosophy of Providence. The role requires working day shifts, including every other weekend and rotating holidays, in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the filling and dispensing of unit dose, IV, and chemotherapeutic medications.
  • Ensure prompt, safe, and accurate delivery of medications to nursing units and ancillary departments.
  • Promote teamwork and reflect the Sisters of Providence Mission and Philosophy in all duties.
  • Handle telephone call prioritization and manage stressful situations effectively.
  • Perform IV admixture and aseptic techniques as required.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician Level A training program certified by the Washington State Board of Pharmacy or equivalent education/experience.
  • Valid Washington Pharmacy Technician License upon hire.
  • Three months of practical experience in a hospital pharmacy under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Experience with telephone call prioritization and managing urgent situations.
  • Experience in IV admixture and aseptic techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • One year of hospital pharmacy experience.
