About the position

Travel + Leisure is currently seeking an Associate Photo Editor to work across both print and digital platforms. The ideal candidate will be collaborative and possess an elevated eye for photography, demonstrating a passion for storytelling through images. This role is designed for someone who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, handling a variety of photo research tasks, including T+L's large tentpole packages. The Associate Photo Editor will also be responsible for producing some photo shoots and shooting original photography for the brand, ensuring that the visual content aligns with the magazine's high standards and storytelling goals. In this position, the Associate Photo Editor will conduct extensive photo research for both the magazine's print and digital platforms. A deep knowledge of Photoshop and other photo editing tools is essential, as the role involves organizing, color editing, retouching, and exporting files. The Associate Photo Editor will attend art meetings to brainstorm story direction and will be responsible for assigning and producing photo shoots. Additionally, the role includes processing paperwork associated with the photo department, such as invoices, contracts, schedules, releases, and certificates of insurance, ensuring that all administrative tasks are completed efficiently. This position is crucial for maintaining the visual integrity of Travel + Leisure, and the successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the magazine's photographic narrative. The Associate Photo Editor will need to balance creativity with organizational skills, ensuring that all projects are completed on time and to the highest standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting photo research for the magazine, for both the print and digital platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of Photoshop and other photo editing tools, including organizing, color editing, retouching, and exporting files.
  • Attending art meetings and brainstorming story direction.
  • Assigning and producing photo shoots.
  • Processing paperwork associated with the photo department, including invoices, contracts, schedules, releases, certificates of insurance, etc.

Requirements

  • Degree in photography or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to take photos for print and digital.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment on deadline with daily time constraints.
  • Prior experience working with photos within a CMS preferred.
  • 2+ years of photo editing experience for a publication.
