About the position

The S&P Global MI Cloud Engineering Shared Services - Platform Engineering team is seeking a skilled DevOps Support Associate to join our dynamic and growing team. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to the software development process within the 18,000-person Market Intelligence division. The role requires the associate to work a flexible shift that aligns with Eastern Standard Time (EST) in the US, ensuring optimal collaboration and support for our operations. In this role, you will be instrumental in providing technical support to our clients, ensuring the smooth operation of various applications and resolving any issues that arise. You will manage and troubleshoot issues reported by clients, documenting all support interactions and resolutions accurately in the ServiceNow - mySolutions ticketing system on a daily basis. Your ability to resolve issues creatively and effectively will be crucial, as will your proactive approach to identifying opportunities for process improvements that enhance the Developer Experience with our applications. This includes automating manual intake processes and streamlining current business-as-usual (BAU) work. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in AWS, Terraform, Python, and/or Linux administration, along with strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for helping our internal developer teams by providing an exceptional developer experience. Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to our clients, ensuring smooth operation and resolution of any issues that arise.
  • Manage and troubleshoot issues reported by clients.
  • Document all support interactions and resolutions accurately in ServiceNow - mySolutions ticketing system daily.
  • Resolve issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance the Developer Experience with our applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with global teams.
  • Basic Linux experience for server-side troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Basic scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for helping internal developer teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic understanding of DevOps engineering and CI/CD practices or experience as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE).
  • Basic knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog and Splunk.
  • Experience working with ticketing systems and knowledge base tools is a plus.
  • Experience in AWS in deployment using Terraform or CloudFormation. AWS certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with source control (Git, GitHub) and feature branching strategies.
