About the position

The Associate, Portfolio Finance at Generate Capital will play a crucial role in coordinating and reporting on sustainable infrastructure portfolio companies within the circular economy and renewable fuels sectors. This position serves as a vital link between portfolio companies and various internal teams, focusing on the development and implementation of effective processes and reporting for ongoing investments. The Associate will also support ad-hoc analyses, project financings, and ensure compliance with financial regulations, ultimately driving the portfolio companies to meet their operating budgets and performance goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead budget forecasting for mature and scaling lines of business within the waste-to-value investment umbrella.
  • Manage portfolio company team counterparts to establish regular and accurate financial forecasts and compliance.
  • Support portfolio company project financings and ongoing compliance and maintenance of financing facilities.
  • Support transaction workstreams through data room preparation and coordination with internal and external parties to ensure timely and accurate third-party deliverables.
  • Adapt, audit, and maintain financial forecasts including Excel models for Upcycle portfolios and associated assets and financings in conjunction with FP&A.
  • Diligence funding requests and work with Treasury to manage wire processes.
  • Measure and report to management progress and forecasts against Generate's key performance indicators.
  • Coordinate with FP&A, Accounting, and Treasury departments including execution communication and ongoing requests/reconciliations.
  • Support the Generate Investment team on quarterly investment updates.
  • Work with Generate's Data & Technology team to contribute to the development of information systems related to the above.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience in structured investments, financial planning & analysis, accounting, asset management, audit, or finance.
  • Ability to audit, evaluate, adapt, and build cash and GAAP financial models for infrastructure assets, preferred equity instruments, and debt instruments.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including empathy, intuition, and listening, as well as strong writing, editing, and basic design skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with circular economy, energy transition, composting, and anaerobic digester assets and business models strongly preferred.
