About the position

The position supports the portfolio management of a project finance portfolio across various industries and asset classes, including power generation, utilities, infrastructure, energy, and energy transition. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and possess a proven track record of analyzing complex project finance structures and negotiating challenging amendments. Responsibilities include hands-on portfolio management of several files, conducting interim and annual reviews, and executing complex amendments, waivers, and consents. The candidate will also present the portfolio to the senior portfolio manager, demonstrating the ability to lead tasks with minimal guidance under time constraints, which is crucial for success in this role. The role involves understanding project finance risks, including technical, market, legal, and financial risks. Key tasks include transaction analysis, credit analysis, due diligence (including contract reviews and third-party consultant reports), and credit documentation. The candidate will critically analyze financial modeling assumptions and conduct due diligence reviews, ensuring compliance with AML/KYC requirements. They will prepare annual or interim review write-ups, coordinate with credit and operations teams for portfolio management activities, and act as an Administrative/Collateral Agent, reviewing reporting and liaising with syndicate lenders. The position requires a strong focus on risk, internal controls, and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities, adhering to policies and procedures while identifying exceptions and escalations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the portfolio management of a project finance portfolio across various industries and asset classes.

  • Act as Administrative/Collateral Agent, reviewing reporting and liaising with syndicate lenders.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance/accounting, or economics with outstanding academic achievement.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project finance origination or portfolio management experience.
  • Proven experience analyzing project finance transactions and closing project finance transactions.
  • Strong financial modeling skills are critical.
  • North American sector, market, and asset class knowledge across power, utilities, infrastructure, energy, and energy transition is an asset.
  • Effective organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Outstanding communication (written, oral, listening) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to present complex information succinctly to internal and external audiences.
  • Self-starter with the ability to learn quickly and work independently.
  • Creative problem-solver with intellectual agility and curiosity.
  • Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
