About the position

The Associate, Portfolio Management - Transitions role at BlackRock involves managing the investment risk during client transitions, which can range from manager changes to full-scale plan mergers. The position requires close collaboration with traders and clients to ensure successful implementation of transition strategies, focusing on portfolio construction, trade execution, and performance attribution.

Responsibilities

  • Manage portfolio construction and positioning during live transition assignments.
  • Prepare orders and send them to the Global Trading team, overseeing execution and exposure management.
  • Develop efficient trading and hedging strategies with detailed execution plans.
  • Prepare and present pre-trade analysis reports explaining proposed strategies and detailing expected transaction costs and risks.
  • Engage with clients throughout the transition process to communicate market conditions, transition progress, and portfolio performance.
  • Research and stay updated on new trading mechanisms, strategies, risk tools, and liquidity sources.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in the Financial Services industry, in portfolio management, trading, transition management, or a related function.
  • Strong understanding of capital markets, financial instruments, portfolio hedging and optimization, and multi-asset allocation strategies.
  • Deep knowledge of transaction cost and portfolio risk analytics.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a track record of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • High energy, curiosity, problem-solving mentality, and attention to detail.
  • Strong propensity to technology and an entrepreneurial eye towards innovation in processes and workflows.
  • Familiarity with a programming language such as Python, or willingness to learn.
  • Series 7, 63 & 3 (can be obtained within 6 months of starting).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with sophisticated trading mechanisms and risk tools.
  • Previous exposure to transition management or related functions.
