About the position

The Associate Portfolio Manager will support loan origination, closing, and ongoing servicing while assisting with prospecting efforts. This role involves collaboration with Capital Markets Officers and various departments within the Bank, focusing on managing loan portfolios and working with member association banks to facilitate loan origination and purchases.

Responsibilities

  • Support all facets of loan origination and closing.
  • Assist with ongoing loan servicing and prospecting efforts.
  • Work with Capital Markets Officers on assigned loan portfolios.
  • Collaborate with Credit Administration, Underwriting, Legal, and Participation Operations.
  • Present credit actions to the Loan Committee.
  • Approve credit actions under Delegated Authority.
  • Execute loan documents as an Officer of the bank.
  • Manage the purchased participation portfolio with AgFirst's member Associations.
  • Assist with loan underwriting in collaboration with the credit department.
  • Manage ongoing credit actions for a portfolio of loan participations.
  • Mentor other team members.
  • Assist the Head of Capital Markets and management with special projects.

Requirements

  • A 4-year degree with an emphasis in finance, business, accounting, or agriculture.
  • Completion of a master's degree in finance (MBA) is preferred.
  • 4 years of commercial lending experience with middle market companies, including multi-lender transactions.
  • Strong origination, structuring, and credit underwriting experience.
  • Extensive experience in credit roles, including as a credit underwriter/analyst for commercial loans.
  • Experience with ongoing management administration of a portfolio of participation loans.
  • Knowledge about the loan syndications market.
  • Understanding of trends impacting the loan syndication business.
  • Sector experience in Agriculture is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively work across an organization with various stakeholders.
  • Understanding of GAAP accounting and cash flow analysis.
