About the position

The Associate Portfolio Manager at Brown Advisory is responsible for managing a diverse range of investment portfolios tailored to meet the unique needs of individual and institutional clients. This role requires a proactive approach, strong analytical skills, and the ability to develop and implement investment strategies in collaboration with the Portfolio Management team. The position emphasizes client relationship management and requires a high level of attention to detail and sophistication in investment disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in portfolio management activities for Individual, Family, Trust, and Balanced Institutional portfolios.
  • Ensure portfolio managers have adequate information for daily management duties.
  • Develop and implement investment strategies in coordination with the Portfolio Management team.
  • Perform detailed analyses of existing and prospective client investment portfolios.
  • Assist in managing all aspects of client relationships, including trading and reporting.
  • Establish and cultivate trusting relationships with clients to help them understand their investments.
  • Expand and maintain relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Proactively participate in firm initiatives directed by local management.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience within the finance industry; 5 - 7 years' experience preferred.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • MBA or progress towards CFA designation is desired.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bloomberg, FactSet, Charles River, APX is a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential material with discretion.
  • A passion for financial markets.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with various investment strategies and disciplines.
  • Familiarity with information systems used in portfolio management.
