About the position

The Associate Portfolio Manager at Ameriprise Financial will work closely with senior portfolio managers and analysts to support the investment processes of various equity strategies. The role focuses on portfolio management duties, process improvements, and gaining proficiency in proprietary rules-based investment approaches. As the applicant develops expertise, they will have opportunities to collaborate across disciplines and take on additional responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Sr. Portfolio Managers to implement portfolio strategy and process.
  • Monitor portfolio risks and daily events, rebalancing portfolios through proprietary systems to meet investment mandates.
  • Prepare and analyze reports and data sets for external clients and internal partners.
  • Test new portfolio management tools, procedures, and processes, with an expectation to lead these activities over time.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors as responsibilities increase.
  • Become proficient in the team's portfolio management research applications and quantitative tools.
  • Manage projects, proactively seek solutions, and drive programming development to improve process efficiency and portfolio outcomes.

Requirements

  • BA or BS degree demonstrating intellectual ability and rigor.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with proficiency in quantitative tools.
  • Established work ethic and willingness to invest in their career.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to take initiative.
  • Highly proficient in Excel, Python or .NET Core, macro implementation, and VBA or equivalent.
  • Basic proficiency in SQL, R, Jupyter Notebook, Perl, and/or C/C+ programming.
  • Ability to integrate and function effectively on a client-focused team dedicated to excellence.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain focus sustainably.
