About the position

The Associate Portfolio Manager is responsible for providing essential support functions to Portfolio Managers in the management of multiple portfolios of commercial real estate loans. This role involves conducting thorough research and financial analysis of commercial real estate properties, loans, and portfolios. The Associate Portfolio Manager will assist in compiling data necessary for lender decisions and will be tasked with presenting analyses that inform investment decisions. Additionally, the role includes monitoring the performance of assigned commercial real estate loan portfolios and providing general customer service to clients and related contacts. The position requires the preparation of various monthly and quarterly reports for the portfolios managed. In this role, the Associate Portfolio Manager will work closely with Portfolio Managers to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. This includes not only the analytical aspects of the job but also the interpersonal skills necessary to communicate findings and recommendations to both internal departments and external clients. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of financial principles and the ability to apply this knowledge in practical scenarios. The role is integral to the overall success of the portfolio management team and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and financial analysis of commercial real estate properties, loans, and portfolios.
  • Assist with data compilation for lender decisions.
  • Make presentations of analysis that will be used for investment decisions.
  • Assist Portfolio Managers in monitoring the performance of assigned commercial real estate loan portfolios.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required with a minimum of 3 years related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from a four-year college or university preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor.
  • Ability to effectively present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees.
  • Requires basic knowledge of financial terms and principles.
  • Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.
  • Ability to understand and carry out general instructions.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
