About the position

This position at Northwestern Mutual involves managing and supporting Private Client Services (PCS) accounts, demonstrating a strong understanding of the WMC investment philosophy. The role requires effective communication with Wealth Management Advisors (WMAs) and high-net-worth clients, while also managing a distinct book of business valued between $300 million to $1 billion. The individual will assist in portfolio management, client consultations, and operational tasks, contributing to the growth of the business and maintaining strong client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Execute operational and global portfolio management requirements through various platforms.
  • Examine the PCS book of business to identify trading opportunities and implement process improvements.
  • Provide support for Portfolio Specialists in operational tasks and responsibilities.
  • Update portfolio management cash and asset allocation drift models daily to assist the Portfolio Management team.
  • Create and analyze investment proposals for prospective PCS clients based on information gathered by advisors.
  • Conduct case consultations with advisors and participate in prospective client calls to illustrate PCS capabilities.
  • Provide guidance on discretionary investment capabilities and approved investment strategies to WMAs and clients.
  • Lead portfolio review calls with WMAs and their clients to retain and strengthen relationships with current PCS clients.
  • Educate clients on markets, investment perspectives, and portfolio performance.
  • Monitor client investment policy allocation and cash balances, executing trades according to client objectives.
  • Prepare client portfolio review materials and perform compliance reviews on client accounts.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and act as a liaison with various departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the investment/fiduciary management industry.
  • Strong understanding of investments, financial markets, and asset allocation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships while providing quality customer service.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Technical expertise in applications such as Envestnet, NetX 360, Bloomberg, and Excel.
  • Ability to identify and resolve critical issues through effective problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Progress towards CFA, CFP, CAIA, or MBA is desirable.
