About the position

The Associate Compliance and Privacy Analyst at Availity plays a crucial role in ensuring the organization's adherence to regulatory requirements, data protection laws, and internal policies related to privacy and compliance. This position involves monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on compliance programs, supporting data privacy initiatives, risk management, and governance of regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the regular monitoring of organizational compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Support the development, implementation, and enforcement of privacy policies in alignment with legal and regulatory requirements, HIPAA, or CCPA.
  • Help conduct risk assessments and privacy impact assessments (PIAs) to identify and mitigate potential data protection risks.
  • Assist in tracking, documenting, and reporting privacy breaches or incidents, working with internal stakeholders to ensure proper resolution.
  • Assist in drafting, updating, and maintaining compliance and privacy policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Provide support for employee privacy and compliance training programs, ensuring that staff are informed about their roles and responsibilities regarding data protection and compliance.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and access to sensitive data, in compliance with privacy laws and organizational policies.
  • Support internal audits to assess the effectiveness of compliance programs, data protection practices, and adherence to industry standards.
  • Monitor and stay informed about changes in relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards affecting privacy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with legal, IT, HR, and other departments to support cross-functional initiatives related to compliance and privacy matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in law, healthcare administration, business administration, information technology, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in healthcare compliance, data privacy, or a related role (internships and part-time roles included).
  • Proficient managing multiple computer systems.
  • Technical acumen - ability to understand data workflows and software.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • OneTrust experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with compliance monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards.
