About the position

At CN, every day brings new and exciting challenges. As an Associate Process Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying, implementing, and leading cross-functional teams within the Mechanical Department to drive process standardization through the application of Lean methodologies. This role is crucial in ensuring that our business operates optimally and safely, contributing to the overall efficiency of our operations and helping to keep the economy on track. You will thrive in our close-knit, safety-focused culture, working together as ONE TEAM to make a meaningful impact in the work we do. Your primary focus will be on process standardization, where you will oversee and assess existing processes and workflows to ensure compliance and standardization across the Mechanical network. You will optimize productivity by designing, implementing, and testing new procedures, while tracking metrics trends to discover areas for improvement and monitor upgrades. Communication is key in this role, as you will need to convey process findings and proposals to upper management to obtain consensus and agreement. Additionally, you will provide work instructions for the successful implementation of process changes across the network. You will also support the Continuous Improvement (CI) Green Belt program throughout all departments within CN, managing projects and ensuring that Green Belts complete all assignments. Participation in CI Advisory Board meetings will be essential for communicating ongoing initiatives and building a CI center of excellence for Green Belts in the network. Your role will include supporting communications in newsletters, digital screens, and other tools to highlight CI process changes and recognize team members. In terms of auditing and compliance, you will organize a yearly audit plan to ensure all processes, policies, and workflows comply with established standards. Conducting quality audits according to the audit plan and communicating results to local leadership with timelines and corrective actions will be part of your responsibilities. You will also incorporate changes from audits back into documentation and implement them, following up on all audit results for completion within estimated timelines.
