About the position

The position at National Interstate involves contributing to product premium volume growth and profitability within assigned product lines. The role includes providing product support, assisting with compliance and regulatory requirements, and collaborating with various departments to ensure successful product development and performance monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to product premium volume growth and profitability results within assigned product lines.
  • Provides product support for business units, agents, and other staff.
  • Assists with interactions with relevant departments such as Claims, Underwriting, and Sales/Marketing.
  • Participates in business unit, compliance, claims, agency, and program reviews.
  • Supports action plans and strategic direction for functional areas.
  • Maintains alignment with other product managers for successful product line development.
  • Supports the review, approval, implementation, and communication of assigned filings.
  • Ensures compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Participates in developing product and rate revisions, underwriting guidelines, manuals, and procedures.
  • Gathers and analyzes data from various sources specific to product.
  • Assists in monitoring product performance and provides summary analysis to business units.
  • May assist in administering training and communication materials on product/rate changes.
  • Assists with the development of new and revised insurance products and policies.
  • Monitors pertinent insurance publications for impact on line of business.
  • Identifies emerging coverage issues and develops action plans for changes.
  • Resolves and assists with routine to moderately complex compliance-related issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Liberal Arts, or a related discipline.
  • 6 months to 3 years of related underwriting, claims, or product experience.
  • Beginning coursework toward certification in area of expertise preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications such as Associate in Underwriting (AU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Program in General Insurance (INS), Associate of Risk Management (ARM), Certified Licensing Professional (CLP), or other applicable designations.
