The Product Development Associate plays a crucial role in the seasonal product development process, collaborating with cross-functional teams that include Design, Merchandising, and Production to plan, create, and execute product lines. The responsibilities of the Product Development Associate include contributing to the development of seasonal product strategies, identifying trends, and collaborating with various teams to ensure timely delivery of goods while meeting margin goals. The associate will track and execute the Product Development calendar, advise on production needs, and participate in product review meetings. Additionally, the role involves communicating with internal and external stakeholders globally, assisting with problem-solving, and contributing positively to team dynamics. The ideal candidate will possess superior organizational and communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and a keen attention to detail. A Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience in apparel merchandising, private label buying, or product development are preferred, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP. Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the seasonal product development process by participating in a cross-functional team that includes Design, Merchandising, and Production.
  • Develop seasonal product strategies, including trend identification, color palette, concept, category, style, costing, and pricing.
  • Implement a comprehensive costing and retail pricing framework to maximize consumer value.
  • Collaborate with Planning to identify and leverage previous best sellers in current assortments.
  • Regularly update the senior Product Development team on new product opportunities and ensure brand cohesiveness.
  • Track and execute the Product Development calendar for operational efficiency.
  • Partner with Design, Merchandising, Production, and Sales to ensure timely delivery of goods and attainment of margin goals.
  • Advise the Director and VP of Product Development on production needs and balance workload among vendors.
  • Contribute to product review meetings, including edits, board review, pre-costing, and post-season reviews.
  • Track assignment of duty rates and confirm with customs; ensure goods are placed in approved facilities.
  • Contribute complete Product Profile Sheets and track proto and sales samples; participate in the fit process with Design and Production.
  • Communicate and follow-up with internal and external constituents, including customers, suppliers, vendors, and licensors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in apparel merchandising, private label buying, or product development.
  • Basic knowledge of garment construction.
  • Superior organizational skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; highly detail-oriented and meticulous.
  • Creativity and sensibility for merchandising and customer needs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; proficiency in SAP preferred.
