About the position

The Associate Professor, Academic Clinician, Associate Chief Health Informatics Officer (ACHIO) position at the University of Pennsylvania involves leading clinical informatics initiatives within the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The role combines academic responsibilities, including teaching medical students and residents, with clinical duties in a pediatric setting. The ACHIO will oversee the ambulatory EHR, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the ambulatory EHR champions in primary and specialty care.
• Collaborate with leaders across the health system to align EHR structure and strategy with enterprise goals.
• Teach medical students, residents, and fellows on clinical informatics topics.
• Engage in outpatient clinical practice, preferably in a pediatric subspecialty.
• Lead the EHR SuperUser, Clinical Builders, and EHR Optimization programs.
• Participate in informatics governance structures and contribute to technology project evaluations.
• Drive change initiatives related to clinical informatics and EHR optimization.

Requirements

• M.D. or equivalent degree required.
• Board certification or eligibility in Clinical Informatics (ABPM) or equivalent certification required.
• Advanced training in clinical informatics or related disciplines preferred (e.g., human computer interaction, computer science).
• Certifications in relevant EHR technologies, especially Epic, are strongly preferred.
• Experience in leading enterprise-wide technology-related change initiatives.

Nice-to-haves

• Fellowship, master's degree, PhD, or other advanced certification in clinical informatics or related fields.
• Experience in user-centered design and implementation science.
