About the position

DeVry University is seeking an Associate Professor in Accounting who will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experiences of our students. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality courses across various modalities, ensuring that students are engaged and supported in their learning journey. This position requires a commitment to fostering an environment that promotes intellectual curiosity, academic integrity, and critical thinking skills, preparing students to become lifelong learners and leaders in their respective fields. As a faculty member, you will be expected to engage in scholarly activities, which include course development and assessment support, while also staying current in your field of study. Mentoring and advising students, as well as supporting visiting professors, are key components of this role. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to select a leadership pathway within the Teaching and Learning organization, contributing to initiatives such as the Center for Teaching Excellence or Faculty Leadership and Development. Responsibilities

  • Deliver courses effectively across various modalities, totaling 42 - 47 credit hours.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including course development and assessment support.
  • Mentor and advise students to enhance their academic experience.
  • Support and mentor Visiting Professors in their teaching efforts.
  • Participate in group programs and initiatives to foster community engagement.
  • Select a leadership pathway to support the Teaching and Learning organization.

Requirements

  • Doctorate Degree in the field being taught or a related field with 15 graduate hours in the field.
  • CPA or CMA certification is required.
  • Three to five years of relevant business or industry experience appropriate to the course subject matter.
  • Two to five years of previous teaching experience preferred.
  • Credentials must be from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in online teaching or course delivery.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methodologies.
  • Previous involvement in curriculum development or academic program assessment.
