About the position

The University of Southern California (USC) is seeking a full-time Associate Professor of Research in the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences. This role focuses on conducting research in infectious disease epidemiology, with an emphasis on COVID-19, HIV, and sexually transmitted infections. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program, teach graduate-level courses, and collaborate with various research institutes within USC.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct studies in infectious disease epidemiology, focusing on COVID-19, HIV, and sexually transmitted infections.
  • Develop and maintain an independent research program addressing infectious disease, associated risks, and health inequities.
  • Teach graduate-level epidemiology courses.
  • Collaborate with the USC Institute on Inequalities in Global Health and the Population Health COVID-19 Pandemic Research Center.
  • Acquire extramural funding for research initiatives.

Requirements

  • PhD in epidemiology or related field, or MD with training in epidemiology.
  • At least ten years of research experience in infectious disease epidemiology.
  • Demonstrated history of obtaining extramural funding.
  • Experience collaborating with researchers, including international collaborations.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.
