About the position

The University of California, San Francisco is seeking a full-time Associate Professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology. This role focuses on computational health sciences, molecular biology, and outcomes modeling, particularly in breast cancer research. The candidate will integrate machine learning methodologies into clinical workflows and manage a biomarker database repository while mentoring students and fellows.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage an integrated biomarker database repository for large platform trials.
  • Identify genetic susceptibility markers for adverse events and early predictors of toxicity.
  • Collaborate with the trial modeling team to develop trial endpoints that integrate efficacy and toxicity.
  • Teach computational techniques to postbaccalaureate students, postdoctoral students, and residents.
  • Mentor students and fellows in related projects.
  • Participate actively in the Department's residency training and educational programs.

Requirements

  • PhD in a relevant field.
  • Background and training in computational health sciences, molecular biology, genetics, and outcomes modeling.
  • Domain knowledge in breast cancer and quality of life metrics.
  • Expertise in big data analytics, visualizations, and biomarker data repository development.
  • Experience with clinical decision support, bioinformatics, and clinical research informatics.
  • Proficiency in machine learning and clinical trials.
