About the position

The University at Buffalo is seeking a visionary leader for the position of Associate Dean for Teacher Education, which is a full-time, tenured role at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. This position is integral to the Graduate School of Education, focusing on teacher preparation and collaboration with various educational partners. The ideal candidate will promote a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion while innovating teacher education programs to address contemporary challenges in public education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative leadership in curriculum development, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and monitor processes to ensure alignment of teacher education programs with the GSE's mission and compliance with regulations.
  • Facilitate stakeholder groups, including community advisory boards.
  • Lead grant writing efforts for teacher residency programs.
  • Promote research opportunities for faculty and graduate students.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in teacher education, curriculum and instruction, or a closely related field.
  • Proven experience mentoring or working with racially minoritized and/or first-generation students, faculty, and staff.
  • Experience within teacher education programs including teaching, advising, directing, and re-accreditation.
  • Demonstrated success in developing partnerships with school districts and community organizations.
  • Demonstrated excellence in research productivity and securing external funding.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior K-12 teaching experience.
  • Successful record of academic leadership (e.g., department chair, decanal or university leadership).
  • Experience in teaching across face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
