About the position

Westfield State University is seeking an Associate Professor or Professor of Criminal Justice to serve as the Department Chair in the Criminal Justice program. This tenure-track position involves both administrative and teaching responsibilities, with a focus on coordinating academic programming, curriculum development, and overseeing undergraduate majors and minors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching across various modalities and contribute to the department's vision and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee undergraduate majors/minors and criminal justice affiliated programs.
• Lead the department in curricular vision, innovation, and student-focused practice.
• Teach undergraduate courses and provide academic advising.
• Engage in service and scholarship activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues and Academic Affairs leadership.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or related field.
• Three or more years of academic leadership experience.
• Five or more years of demonstrated effective teaching in a tenure-track position.
• Experience with curriculum design and evaluation of program outcomes.
• Experience in a union environment preferred.
