About the position
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is seeking a tenured faculty member to serve as the Director of Research for the Connected Systems Institute (CSI) within the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS). This role involves shaping and implementing the research vision and mission of CSI, focusing on Advanced Manufacturing and Industry 4.0. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty and industry partners, lead interdisciplinary research teams, and contribute to curriculum development while fostering new collaborations.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a key member of the CSI leadership team.
- Shape and implement the research vision and mission of CSI.
- Collaborate with CEAS faculty and faculty from across campus.
- Build and lead high-performing research teams.
- Conduct independent research in Industry 4.0 topics.
- Foster collaborations with industry partners.
- Advise students as part of CSI research.
- Contribute to the broader CEAS community.
Requirements
- A doctoral degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- Holding the rank of associate or full professor with tenure or a distinguished record of scholarly achievements sufficient for tenure at UWM.
- A strong record of securing external funding and publishing.
Nice-to-haves
- Proven research record in Industry 4.0 topics such as AI manufacturing, robotics, and cybersecurity.
- Demonstrated administrative and research leadership experience.
- Teaching experience related to Industry 4.0.
- Experience forming and leading cross-disciplinary research teams.
- Experience conducting research in collaboration with industrial partners.
