About the position

The University of Notre Dame is seeking an Associate Program Director for Athletic Communications, a role that is pivotal in enhancing the visibility and engagement of Notre Dame Athletics. This position is responsible for directing and overseeing content creation, aggregation, and distribution as the primary contact for assigned sports teams, including women's soccer, men's and women's tennis, and softball. The individual will also support other athletic teams as needed. The role requires building strong relationships with student-athletes to highlight their unique stories and amplify their personal and program brands, as well as the overall Notre Dame Athletics brand. In this position, you will manage social media accounts, creating engaging content that connects fans with student-athletes, coaches, and teams. You will serve as a resource for student-athletes, educating them on media landscapes and perceptions. Your responsibilities will include managing press box operations, handling media requests, and facilitating interview opportunities for student-athletes and coaches. As an expert in content creation, you will be adept at connecting the stories that student-athletes want to share with the audience that seeks their authentic voices. The Associate Program Director will be responsible for aggregating information, generating stories, and creating unique social media posts and digital media content based on team successes and related topics. This includes producing news and information for fans and media, updating statistics, maintaining historical records, and writing press releases for distribution across various digital platforms. On game days, you will manage press box operations and create engaging content for fans, including behind-the-scenes videos and written stories. Additional duties may include promoting content and exploring monetization opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee content creation, aggregation, and distribution for assigned sports teams.
  • Manage social media accounts and create engaging content to connect fans with student-athletes and coaches.
  • Educate student-athletes on media landscapes and social media perceptions.
  • Serve as the primary contact between assigned programs and Fighting Irish Media.
  • Manage press box operations and media requests on game days.
  • Produce news and information for fans and media, including articles, videos, and social media content.
  • Update statistics and maintain historical records for assigned sports teams.
  • Write press releases and pitch stories for broad distribution.
  • Create engaging content for fans, including behind-the-scenes videos and written stories.
  • Promote content and seek opportunities to monetize it.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (4 years) in a relevant field.
  • 2 years of experience in athletic communication or within a collegiate environment preferred.
  • Outstanding communication skills with experience in public relations and writing.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Design Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.).
  • Experience in managing media and statistics (StatCrew or Genius) is desired.
  • Understanding of NCAA, ACC, and ND rules and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with shooting photos or short videos, or a willingness to be trained.
  • Experience in a collegiate and/or professional communications/content creation role.
